Coway vs Blueair in Germany: two air purifier shops, compared on what they publish

Returns, delivery, warranty and offers read from both German shops’ own pages, and what the filter terms leave out.

Shipping & Returns5.05 of 5 checks passed
What we read

A voluntary 30-day return from receipt on top of the 14-day withdrawal, for new and unused items with packaging. Coway Europe B.V. pays: you get a prepaid label. No fees; the refund includes delivery costs. Standard shipping is free on all orders with no minimum, usually 3 to 5 working days after dispatch, Germany only.

What we read

The German terms give the 14-day withdrawal; 30 days applies only to replacing a defective unit. Blueair pays return transport if you follow its procedure, but the terms also allow deductions for loss in value and ‘reasonable direct costs’. The aim is delivery within five days of order confirmation; shipping is charged on top, with no amount or threshold in the terms. The cart shows ‘Start shopping to qualify for free shipping!’ without saying how.

Service2.62 of 5 checks passed
What we read

Two-year warranty with published claim steps (purchase proof and video within 30 days, decision within 45 days, free return of a repaired or replaced unit). Filters, goods from unauthorised dealers, display and opened-box items, and transport damage reported after a week are excluded. The pages do not address changing or cancelling an order, the ‘2+ Jahre Garantie’ banner conflicts with the page’s own two years, and there is no product-choosing help (live chat is for support, Monday to Friday). The returns page counts its clocks differently for the 14 and 30 days.

What we read

The German terms give a two-year manufacturer guarantee (free replacement in the first 30 days, then repair or replace) and say filters are not covered; claims go by email or an online form. No customer right to change or cancel an order is stated. The pages contradict each other: another Blueair page gives one year, the terms are labelled with a Swedish court and a Swedish address, and the text is partly machine-translated (‘Abhebungsrecht’ for withdrawal).

Value4.24 of 5 checks passed
What we read

Airmega 150 at €169.99 against €299.99 (about 43% off), Airmega Mighty 30%, Airmega Jet 27%, Airmega 350 33%. A filter subscription (Spar-Abo) is offered. No sale shows an end date, only an ‘Indoor Air Week’ banner.

What we read

The sale page lists six products with current prices only: no regular price, no percentage, no end date, no sign-up, threshold or subscription offer. That does not prove Blueair does not discount; it means a shopper cannot see one on its German pages.

Overall desk score3.92.3

Desk scores come from checklists read off each store’s own pages, not from hands-on use. “Not read” means we could not see the page that would say, which is not the same as failing. An overall and a winner appear only when both sides have all three criteria rated; a gap under 0.3 is called a tie. How desk scores work.

This is a research-based comparison. We read both brands' own German shop pages (home pages, return, shipping and warranty terms, and sale pages) on 28 October 2026. We have not tested either brand's purifiers. Our scores are checklist-based "desk scores" and say how much we could read; see how we score.

Coway and Blueair are two of the better-known air purifier brands with their own German web shops. Both sell purifiers, filters and accessories; Blueair also sells humidifiers. If you are working out which purifier you need first, our purifier filter-cost guide comes before this one.

The scores#

Coway comes out at 3.9 and Blueair at 2.3.

Coway (coway.de)Blueair (Germany)
Shipping & Returns5.03.0
Service2.63.0
Value4.21.0

Read the Value row with care. A 1.0 does not say Blueair never discounts; it says a shopper looking at Blueair's German pages cannot see a discount. Its sale page lists six products with current prices only, with no regular price, percentage or end date.

Returns and delivery: Coway is clearer#

Coway gives a voluntary 30-day return from receipt (for new, unused items with packaging) on top of the 14-day withdrawal. Coway Europe B.V. pays: you get a prepaid label, with no fees and delivery costs refunded. Standard shipping is free on every order with no minimum, usually 3 to 5 working days after dispatch, Germany only.

Blueair gives the 14-day withdrawal. The 30-day mark applies only to replacing a defective unit. Blueair accepts the return transport costs if you follow its procedure, but its terms also allow deductions for loss in value and "reasonable direct costs". Delivery is aimed at within five days of order confirmation, with shipping charged on top and no amount stated. The cart says "Start shopping to qualify for free shipping!" without saying how.

Warranty: Blueair's text is stronger#

Blueair's German terms give a two-year manufacturer guarantee with free replacement in the first 30 days, then repair or replacement. Filters are excluded. Coway also gives two years, with published claim steps: purchase proof and a video within 30 days, a decision within 45 days, and free return of a repaired or replaced unit. Its exclusions are longer: goods from unauthorised dealers, display and opened-box items, and transport damage reported after a week.

Both pages contradict themselves. Coway's "2+ Jahre Garantie" banner does not match its own two-year page, and it counts its return clocks differently for the 14 and 30 days. Blueair's global warranty page gives one year of cover against two in the German terms, the German legal text names a Swedish address and Swedish courts, and parts are machine-translated ("Abhebungsrecht" where it means withdrawal).

Offers#

Coway's sale shows regular prices next to sale prices: Airmega 150 at €169.99 against €299.99 (about 43% off), Airmega Mighty about 30%, Airmega Jet 27% and Airmega 350 33%. It also offers a filter subscription. No sale shows an end date, only an "Indoor Air Week" banner. Our sale-price guide shows how to check a figure like that.

Our take#

Coway wins on what its pages promise: free delivery, a 30-day return with a prepaid label, and visible discounts. Blueair's warranty text is the better of the two, but you cannot see its discounts. The running cost that matters most, filters, is excluded from both warranties, so price them before you buy either.
